WOD (World Origami Days)

In September 2005, OrigamiUSA suggested to make October 24th as the World Origami Day, since that date is the birthday of Lillian Oppenheimer (1898-1992), one of the founders of the British Origami Society and OrigamiUSA. Makoto Yamaguchi then pointed out that in Japan November 11th had already been established as the Origami Day. So, the period from 10/24 to 11/11 has become the period of World Origami Days or WOD. Since then, OrigamiUSA has been engaged to spread the joy of origami in the whole world by promoting origami events and activities. In 2011, OrigamiUSA partnered with JOAS in order to promote WOD.

【My WOD Report】

During the WOD period, download the "WOD Entry Sheet", print it, fill it, and place the model that you folded on top of the label, take a picture. Please share it on Facebook, Twitter, blog. You can choose models to fold at your own taste, participation can be individual or in a group, as many times as you like. Please participate to spread the joy of origami.

【Origami theme exhibition】

The theme of this year is the zodiac for year 2019 "Pig(Boar)". We ask for submissions by the creator, but the models can be new or an old creation. Please post in the same way as "My WOD Report".

Live exhibition: We will exhibit models at the gallery Origami House. Please send your finished "Pig(Boar)" models.

【Art Museum Exhibition】

Using "WOD Entry Sheet", photos posted directly to the Japan Origami Academic Society (JOAS) by social media or e-mail for WOD submission will be posted on the special page in the Origami Art Museum website. The Exhibition models will be made public from October 24, 2018

Origami models folded by you during the WOD period. Please download the "My WOD report" entry sheet, print it, place it next to your model, and take a picture. Also, please upload to Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media. Feel free to choose any origami model, and participation can be individual or in small groups. Multiple entries are also encouraged. Please join to expand the origami joy with as many people as possible.

Also, if you upload a photo under "My WOD Report" or "Origami Theme Exhibition" using the WOD dedicated e-mail address, we will also poast the picture on the special page in Origami Art Museum page
